Aufgabe: Rewrite the following sentences using gerunds.

1. The forefathers of the Native Americans had crossed the Bering Strait into Alaska. They made the plains their home.
2. After they had reached Alaska, they spread through the Americas.
3. When the first Native Americans arrived, they found a lot of beauty.
4. Although they shared the plains as a common home, each tribe developed its own way of life.
5. Even though they didn't speak a common language, the different tribes could still communicate.
6. The different tribes communicated. They used sign language.
7. The buffalo was very important. It fed and clothed the Native Americans.
8. They sometimes used their horses to pay for goods. They didn't pay with money.
9. They used their horses not only for hunting but also for carrying things.

Sieht eigentlich sehr gut aus. Vielleicht kann man noch ändern:

Entweder: Before making the plains their home, the forefathers of the Nativ Americans had crossed the Bering Streat into Alaska.
Oder:
After crossing the Bering Strait into Alaska, the forefathers made....

2. After reaching Alaska, they spread through the Americas.

3. On arriving, the first Americans found a lot of beauty.

4. In spite of sharing the plains as a common home, each tribe developed its own way OF life.

5. Without speaking a common language, the different tribes could still communicate.

6. By using sign language, the different tribes communicated.
Besser: The different tribes communicate by using sign language.

7. For feeding and clothing the Native Americans, the buffalo was very important.
Hier ebenso: The buffalo was very important for feeding and clothing

8. Instead of paying with money they sometimes used their horses to pay for goods.

9. As well as…???[/quote] Diesen Satz kann man nicht noch weiter in eine Gerundkonstruktion verwandeln, da es nur ein Verb gibt und der 2. Teil sowieso schon Gerund ist.
Man könnte hier höchstens das Verb in die progressive setzen:

They were using...
Das heißt dann so viel wie: Die ganze Zeit über benutzten sie....
