I fully agree with you all.
I always liked the english language and in about 6th or 7th grade I decided on go to america or canada for a year to learn and improve my english skills.
Why I decided it in 6th or 7th grade? Probably because my sister returned from her exchange year and since it has always been the way that I wanted to do what my sister was doing, I sure wanted to do the same
Later I realised that it is not because my sister did it before me bute because it is important to learn and improved. If I had the time I would also go to france or spain for a year, just to learn the languages.
And since you need english skills in almost every occupation it's good to know it. |

Hi Lischen,
may I correct your mistakes?
Please remember to captialize words such as English (nationalities),
America, France, Canada, Spain (countries).
I'm also a fan of languages and I also would be interested to learn Spanish. At school I took some French lessons (AG) but I quit because the grammar was very confusing .
This link is a very good "place" to improve your English, just take a look

Hi Eeryone
Why i like to improve my Englishskill?
Well i think it´s the most important language in the world,
and on the Internet.
And i´m dreaming going out of Germany to some other country, maybe USA or something like that, so i need to talk English in my future and even now in my Job.
As an Electrician you need to know Basic English because some Hand books are english only and my older colleges could not read the introductions. |

Better is "going away from Germany" going out sounds like "running out on sth." which basically means you're loseing something.
Generally it is "to the USA" since it is "the united states of America".
And you should write the I (= ich) with the capital letter. It's more common.
Please correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't english as an language be written in small letters?

Electrician is a job and not a name so it must have a small letter in the beginning.
As well as basic english.
And handbooks as well maybe instruction guide would be a better word.
The last one is a rather cute mistake
Colleges=Hochschulen
Colleagues=Kollegen  |

in my humble opinion is English just a tool. Yes, a powerful one, but its only a possibility to acchieve something. I want to tell you a small story, which makes clear my point of view.
"A frient of mine went for a year to the USA to learn from native speakers. A very interesting thing, if you really want to improve your language skills, and the most imortant: your prononcuation. I did not have such a opportunity, so I stayed at home. A year passes by, he returns and what do I see? Yes his English is splendid, but he can not use it properly. He doesn't know what to say, though the ability is surely there "
What want I say with all this stuff above, don't get crazy about learning english. Do as much as necessary to cover your wisedom and not a jot more. |

Why English?
That is easy: It is such a beautiful language.
The shortness of the words (there are no such words like "Verfassungsgerichtsgesetz" or "Kommunikationsschwierigkeiten") and the simplicity of the grammar (only one article, not too many exceptions) and its particular sound make it beautiful.
Every language is beautiful in one way or another. The sound of French or Italian maybe beautiful, but their grammar is certainly not. And the beauty of the German language lies in his flexibility and simplicity for native speakers, but the English language is the most beautiful of them all.
Yes, I have to admit, I did not find it a beautiful language when I started learning it, because I am very ambitious and I did not have the greatest grades, but after having been in England for four month my skills have improved and my good relationship with this language developped.

Why English? Because it's the easiest subject I ever had at school. It's even easier then German - I feel like that's getting harder with every that passes. Just my impression?
Anyway, I just like English. It's simple and it gives you a lot more possibilities to express yourself. For example, my mother tongue is German. But I'm write fanfiction (does anybody know a good site? Just wondering...) - just in English because I'm not able to express myself as clearly in German as I do in English.
Besides, my granny needs my help with the Christmas letter she receives from the US part of our family every year
PS: If anybody wants to nail me on the "the easiest thing" thing - I never care about speling on the Internet |

Just when I was speaking about mixing up the two languages...
English: to develop
French: developper
I hope you can forgive me .
@trin
In my opinion, German gives you as much possibilities to express yourself as English does - but you have to manage the difficult grammar. |

May be true, but I feel kind of tightened when I write a German story. Don't know why... Maybe I should try writing French to compare that - but my French grammar is more or less non-existing ^^
@ Ulli: I know fanfiction.net - got some storys archivated there
fanfiction-portal - that's Stargate fanfiction, very simple to find, but unfortunately not what I'm looking for. I'm having my JAG period but it's difficult to find any German FF that doesn't let you give up every hope that youngsters will ever learn grammar & speling - believe it, I tried.. |
