Glad I've found this board. 
For many years English has been my hobby , not a must.
Thomas, you're right , English is a very important language in todays world and business life. There's a lot do to hold on.

well, i'm mostly using my pitiful knowledge of the english language for songwriting and poems... and of course for school...
and to communicate with my cousin from america...
every language is some sort of 'getting-richer', 'cause you usually get to know the people as well as their culture, too...

I understood everything you've written 
I also think, that english is one of the most important languages for bussines and for communication too.
It's a great idea, this board and I think there will be a lot of users in here

what a question , not all people here work as a mcdonalds worker etc.
education is one of the most important things in your life.imagine you are
business man and you have to go to england or to the usa to work there.Then you have to improve your english.Thats only one possible thing...

Good afternoon!
Having just finished a small contribution to the problem of understanding
difficult English texts I now happened to find that there is a discussion going on about the importance of English. Being biased, so to speak, I might hint to the variegated ways of the common use of this language:it is known all over the world, physicians use it to write down their discoveries,
and so on. Do I have to mention other realms where English is the main tongue? I guess I don't have to. Nevertheless- one should never be unmindful of the fact that every human being likes and loves just h i s ( h e r) language. But being far away from the narrowmindedness of nationalism one must stress that there are in this respect at least "equal rights". But to find a "common denominator" for to communicate internationally, English might be what we are looking for. But...If you don't agree just write!
