He finds out that Viola de Lesseps is dressed up as “Thomas Kent” to be allowed to act. Shakespeare spends many times with Viola and goes to the reception by the Queen with her and Lord Wessex as “Miss Wilhelmina”. Lord Wessex uses the opportunity to ask “Miss Wilhelmina” whether it is true that Viola covertly meets a poet. “Wilhelmina” affirms and tells him that the poet is Christopher Marlowe (a competitor of Shakespeare’s). The Queen and Lord Wessex bet that true love is not acting on stage. She also alerts Wessex to that Viola is no more a virgin. He leaves the room with full of anger. A few days later, Shakespeare finds out that Christopher Marlowe was killed in a pub with a knife. Shakespeare feels guilty now. When Wessex reports to Viola that “the poet” is dead, she thinks it is Shakespeare. But at funeral service she sees Shakespeare und he explains the situation to her. A boy coincidentally watches through a hole in the wall that Shakespeare and “Thomas Kent” kiss each other and that he is a girl. Because of the actress the “Rose” theatre is closed by the police.
