Meine Frage:
Dear Sir or Madam,

my name is Max Mustermann and I'm a medical student from Musterstadt, Germany. Currently I'm enrolled in the 8th of 12 semesters which equals about the status of a third-year medical student in the United States. During the clinical education it is required to gather practical experience in different fields of medicine and as I am very interested in the excellent medical education as well as the health system in the US and the diverse culture with its people and language, I would like to experience medical training during a clinical clerkship at your hospital.

The clerkship (German "Famulatur") is required to consist of a minimum four-week visitation during lecture-free time and its aim is to give the medical student insight on the daily duties of a physician in a hospital. Due to these terms I would like to do the four-week clerkship either during August and September 2013, whichever suits you better.

Additionally, I would like to provide you with some more information about me and my medical education so far.
Up to now I already did clerkships in the Department of Anaesthesiology at the X-Klinik in Y, Germany, in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the X-Stift in Y, Germany and in a doctor's office for General Medicine in Y, Germany.
Furthermore, I am currently working on my medical dissertation in the field of Pediatric Cardiology.

In order to get a better overview of the big variety of options to practice medicine, I am very interested in doing my fourth clerkship in your Department of Radiology or Plastic Surgery.

Eventually I want to say, that I, as a student, am not expected to receive any remuneration for that period and will cover any expenses that arise in connection with travel and accomodation. Moreover I hope to be of some service to your facilities.
