Zu einem Textausschnitt aus der Quelle ,,The Significance of the Frontier in American History'' von Frederick Jackson Turner musste ich diese Aufgabe bearbeiten.
Explain shortly how the frontier, according to Turner, influenced the American charakter.

According Turner, the American society has been formed first by the frontier between the civilization and the ,,wild country''. Turner defined the West not as a place, but as a process. The most important effect of the frontier in American history has been the promotion of democracy. Additionally, the individuality could develop through the frontier. The frontier is thus the line of most rapid and effective ,, Americanization'' (Denglisch Big Laugh

). Moreover, the frontier had a great influence on America, for example coarseness, strength, inventive turn of mind, acuteness, inquisitiveness, buoyancy and exuberance. Accordingly, the frontier opened new opportunities, aboloshed oppressions, afforded to be more individualistic and brought development to America.

Das "afforded to be more individualistic" klingt für micht irgendwie komisch, ich weiß nicht, ob man "to afford" so benutzen kann, prüf das nochmal.
Inhaltlich:
An das mit der "democracy" kann ich mich nicht mehr erinnern, woraus entnimmst du das?

Turner is remembered for his "Frontier Thesis", which he first published July 12, 1893 in a paper read in Chicago to the American Historical Association during the Chicago World's Fair. In it, he stated that the spirit and success of the United States is directly tied to the country's westward expansion. According to Turner, the forging of the unique and rugged American identity occurred at the juncture between the civilization of settlement and the savagery of wilderness. This produced a new type of citizen - one with the power to tame the wild and one upon whom the wild had conferred strength and individuality.

Turner gave a famous lecture on how the frontier had shaped American development, concluding that the "first period" of American history—-the period that had nurtured individualism, democracy, and widespread opportunity for economic autonomy—-had come to an end.
