wir schreiben am montag über den text eine arbeit. kennt vielleiht einer den text? ich habe im internet ein paar fragen zu dem text gefunden...und habe probleme sie irgendwie zu beantworten. danke schonmal:)

The text After Twenty Years by O Henry informs the reader about two guys who promised to meet at a particular spot exactly twenty years later. This certain location had been a restaurant until five years ago.
The story takes place in New York. It is 10 o´clock at night. Silky Bob waits to his friend Jimmy Wells. He is a criminal who breaks the law. In comparision to Silky Bob is Jimmy Wells a policeman who protect the law.
The plot begins when the policeman who is on duty detect a man in the doorway of a darkened hardware store leaning.

Schreib mal deine Zusammenfassung. Ich korrigiere sie dir dann.
aber gleich mal so beim schnell Drüberschauen: to wait FOR sb. - auf jemanden warten
to meet in a place - an einem Ort treffen.
Und noch was: Schau mal jedes Verb durch, ob da nicht ein s für die 3. Person Einzahl dran gehört.

In the short story After Twenty Years by O Henry informs the author the reader about two guys who promised to meet at a particular spot exactly twenty years later. This certain location had been a restaurant until five years ago.
The story takes place in New York. It is 10 o´clock at night. Silky Bob waits for his friend Jimmy Wells. He is a criminal who breaks the law. In comparision to Silky Bob is Jimmy Wells a policeman who protects the law.
The weather is unpleasant. The situation changes while the weather gets worse: chilly gusts of wind with a taste of rain to a fine cold drizzle falling and the wind had wrisen from it is uncertain puffs into a steady blow.
The plot begins when the policeman who is on duty detects a man in the doorway of a darkened hardware store leaning. The man thinks he has to tell the policeman why he is there. So he start to tell: He and his best friend Jimmy Wells had agreed to meet exactly 20years later at this place, until there they would make their fortunes. Silky Bob gone to the west and gotten rich.
He is sure that Jimmy Wells would come if he is still alove. They talk for a while and then the policeman carries on. Silky Bob waits 20minutes then a tall man in a long overcoat arrival. The gangster is very happy to see his old chum again. They talk for a spell. Silky Bob notice that the person is not Jimmy wells.
ich weiß ich habe sehr viele fehler.... nun weiß ich aber nicht, was ich noch schreiben soll. ich kann das ende nicht zusammenfassen.. |

Da fehlen ein paar entscheidende Dinge, wie z.b. dass Jimmy Wells Silky als Verbrecher erkennt, als der sich seine Zigarre anzündet. Und da er sein Freund ist und er es nicht übers Herz bringt, ihn selbst zu verhaften, arrangiert er, dass ein anderer sich als Jimmy ausgibt und Silky in die Falle lockt, damit er verhaftet werden kann. Silky fällt auch zuerst auf diese Täuschung herein und erst als sie in einer Imbißstube (oder was das war....weiß nicht mehr) ankommen, erkennt Silky, dass das nicht Jimmy sein kann - da Jimmy's Nase sich auch in 20 Jahren nicht so ändern kann. Das Wetter ist bloß insofern wichtig, als dass es erklärt, wieso Silky den Polizisten überhaupt anspricht - weil es eben ungewöhnlich wirkt, wenn man bei einem solchen Wetter in eine dunkle Ecke gedrückt herum steht, während andere sich beeilen, weiter zu kommen. Und damit der Polizist auf keine dummen Gedanken kommt, erzählt ihm Silky gleich, warum er hier stehe, nicht ahnend, dass der Polizist Jimmy ist. Und das Wetter erklärt auch, wieso der angebliche Jimmy erst beim Eintreten in die Imbißstube von Silky enttarnt wird.
Versuch das mal neu zu schreiben.

ich finde keine logische antwort darauf. weil im text steht ja: we figured that iun twenty years each of us ought to have our destiny worked out and our fortunes made, whatever they were going to be.
ich finde wirklich keine logische antwort...
