you use as when you compare 2 things... he´s as good as paul..
Er ist so gut (genauso gut) wie paul
you use like when you want to say that something is LIKE that
also wenn etwas SO ist..
it´s like yesterday..
es ist wie gestern-..

An sich tragen as und like die selbe Bedeutugn. Grob unser deutsches "wie" in den Fällen, die du sicher meinst: ergo, comparisons
Wichtigste REgel dabei ist
like + substantiv
as + adjektiv/adverb
