Introducion

Good Morning

Today we present our Eurocom about Sydney.
We chose this topic because we like the city and we wanted to find more out about it.
We have never been in Sydney but we would like to go there if we had the chance to
I'll take the first part and Jan will take the second part.

I will start now with the History of Sydney
HISTORY

Sydney is the oldest city in australia
The British Sailor James Cook arrived in Botany Bay,near sydney, in the year 1770.
they founded the region under the flag of the british Empire and at the 26.january 1788 they officially founded Sydney
Convicts came from the british Empire to Australia to create a new colony.
But also alot of free settler emigrated to the new created city.When they first found Gold in the south-east of the australian county Victoria in 1851 the population grew up very fast.

Population

Sydney got over 3million inhabitants and its the biggest city of australia.
Sydney is one of the oldest civilisations in the world
Since then Sydney grew up to one of the biggest cities in Australia and in 1925 sydney first topped the 1 million mark
The increase in the population in the 20th century was mainly affected by economic and political factors.
A total of over 200 nationalities are represented in Sydney's population.
There are more than 20 languages spoken in Sydney,but the most used language is English and Chinese.
About 31% of the inhabitants of Sydney werent Born in Australia

Now i gonna tell you some facts about the geography

Geography

Sydney lies in the south east region of Australia in the County Victoria
The metropolitan area spans 12.000 square kilometre
The urban area spans 1.620 square kilometres
Sydney lies at a Side arm of the Pacific Ocean.The average highness of the sea level is 3metres.
Sydney is divided into 38 local parts of the town.

OPERA HOUSE

Now i go on with the Landmark of Sydney, the opera house.
Everyone knows the Opera House because of its unique like a sail looking roof.
The Opera house start building in 1959 and finished building in 1973
The architect of the opera house was Jorn Utzon
The Building is 183 meters long and 118 meters bright.
the opera house count 5 theatre with all together 5532 seats.
Up to 3000 performances every year
It lies at the belong point near the harbour.
We think if you are in Sydney its a must to spend time at the Opera house

DARLING HARBOUR

One of the beautifullest harbours in the world is the Darling Harbour
In the 80. darling harbour was just a bad looking dock, but then they made it to one of the beautifullest harbour
in the world.
It lies in the centre of Sydney and its one of alot of sights in Sydney
At the darling harbour you can eat in more than 100 restaurants,
visit world class museeums or go shopping in the shopping streets

SYDNEY HARBOUR BRIDGE

The harbour bridge officially opened at the 19.th March 1932 connects the North of Sydney with the South.
The native people call the bridge "coat hanger".
It spans 503 metres and its one of the biggest arch bridges in the world.
The building costs about 6,2million australian pounds.
There are 8 lines for cars,to for the city trains and 1 for bycicles and each day more then 150.000 vehicles cross the bridge
at the 28th of May more than 250.000 people crossed the bridge,since this day there is a little sign which remember this day

SYDNEY TOWER

The start of building the tower was in 1974. The architect was Donald Crone.
They finished the building in 1981.
From now on it was the second highest tower of the southern hemisphere
The Tower,which is used for look out, is 305 metres high,weights 2.239 tons and got 19 level.
He also got 3 lifts

Sports
The 2 famouse sports in sydney are rugby and cricket.
8 teams of The australian rugby leagues(National Rugby league)have their seat in Sydney.
Now some facts about Rugby
Rugby was founded together with the Football in England in1823
1863 the first Rugby association was founded.
There are 15 players in every team and the field is 60 on 100metres.
And every half is 40minutes long.
In this time u have to earn more points than the enemy team to win the match.
U can carry the ball with your hands or shoot with the foot.
Its a must to wear teath,shoulder and bag protectors for safety
Rugby is played nearly all over the world, but mostly in the commonwealth countrys(commonwealth countrys are countrys,who are conquered by the british empire)

Climate

Sydney lies in the subtropical zone, but because Sydney lies near the cost the temperature is very mild.
the average temperature lies at 17.4°celsius. the warmest montsh are january and february.
the coldest month is July.
The deepest meeted temperature in Sydney was 2.1°C
the hottest day in the history of Sydney was the 1.january 2006 were about 44°C were meeted
Sydney has mild winters and got more than 340 sunny days.

Parks

Sydney got 3 botanic garden.
The biggest of them is Royal botanic garden.
It was opened in 1816.hes over 30hektar high
Around Sydney there find in a gap about 30kilometres more smaller and bigger national parks.
A famous sight of the blue mountains national Park are the "3 sisters" a rock formation of 3 rocks.

Soweit ich weiß, heißt es auch nicht "Korrigierung" sondern "Korrektur". Augenzwinkern
