Meine Frage:
Es geht um den untenstehenden Text. Ich sollte mich mit der Frage auseinandersetzen, ob sich Geschichte wiederholt, ein aktuelles Beispiel nennen, die meine These untermauern, und eine Schlussfolgerung schreiben.

Meine Ideen:
To begin with I would like to mention that I am of the opinion that history repeats constantly and will always do so - both on a small and on a large scale. Although it doesn't repeat exactly alike, parallels are very often clearly distinguishable.

Often, however, it isn't bad that history repeats - quite on the contrary - for example when a man proposes a woman (which has happened million times before) or when a young couple decides to have a baby.

Why it is that history repeats is obvious: People resemble each other. And so resemble the circumstances each another, in which people live. We are situated in a world with limited resources, which means that some decisions we take are more or less forced. Thus, in fact, we can learn a lot from history as we can from our parents or our grandparents.

But why it is that the same big mistakes are repeated again and again is difficult to say or even to comprehend. As an example I want to pick up the eastern region of Asia - which in its current condition in some way resembles situation of Europe in the early 20th century shortly before the outbreak of Word War I.

Here too we see unsolved territorial conflicts, a rise of nationalism, complex military alliances and in some cases hatred between nations. It is very alarming that nobody is willing to de-escalate the situation - though nobody can have an interest in a military dispute.

After all, if World War I has a lesson to teach than that control over things can easily be lost and that events in such a heated situation can get a momentum themselves fastly , which then can't be stopped any more. Though the situation isn't exactly alike, the protagonists in this current crisis should be alarmed not to make the same mistakes as they have been mede before.

Or, as the German Foreign Minister Frank Walter Steinmeier recently put it in a discussion forum with distinguished guests: "History doesn't repeat automatically. We have the option to intervene. Hence it is worth looking back."
