| @Gastili: I agree with what you said. Another thing I noticed was that the invasion of Iraq during George W. Bush's presidency started in 2003, not 2001. |

Mh..isn't the current president Obama? Und bei Reagean he died at the age of 93 in 2004, but was president 1981-1989, so he wasn't 89 then? I'm not 100% sure, though. |

| Meine Frage: Hallo alle miteinander, Ich habe als Hausaufgabe im Fach Englisch der Klasse 12 die Aufgabe bekommen, aus 10 Biographien verschiedener amerikanischer Präsidenten die (inhaltlichen) Fehler zu entdecken und zu korrigieren, was mir auch bei 8 gelungen ist. Allerdings sind da zwei Texte, bei denen ich beim besten Willen nichts entdecke: Ronald Wilson Reagan (February 6, 1911- June 5, 2004) was the 40th President of the United States (1981-1989) and the 33rd Governor of California (1967-1975). At 89, he was the oldest person ever to be elected President of the United States. Before entering politics, REagan was a successful Hollywood and television actor, head of the Screen Actors Guild, and a spokesman for General Electric. He was a prominent New Dealer in the 1940s, but by the 1960s, Reagan had become a conservative Repubilcan. He strongly opposed communism and socialism and as President he sought a reduction to regulation, free trade agreements, welfare cutback, and tax cuts leading to dramatic increases in government revenue which couldn't keep up with congressional spending. REagan is credited with restoring America's power and prosperity after a period of stagflation in the wake of the Watergate scandal and the withdrawal from Vietnam. He escalated the Cold War with the Soviet Union through a military build-up and a firm foreign policy of "peace through strength" but also negotiatied with Mikhail Gorbachev to shrink both countries' nuclear arsenals and peacefully end the Cold War. George Walker Bush (born July 6, 1946) is the 43rd and current President of the United States, inaugurated on January 20, 2001, and re-inaugurated on January 20, 2005. Bush was first elected in 2000 in one of the most controversial presidential elections, after a month of ballot recounts and court challenges in Florida were ended by a Supreme Court ruling. Eight months into Bush's presidency in 2001, nineteen hijackers sponsored by al-Qaeda carried out the September 11, 2001 attacks. President Bush responded by declaring a Global WAr on Terror which would become a central issue of his presidency. In early October 2001, he ordered the invasion of Iraq, asserting that Iraq was in violation of UN Resolution 1441 regarding weapons of mass destruction. Following the overthrow of Saddam Hussein's Iraq regime, Bush stated his policy of attempting to establish democracy in the Middle East, starting with Afghanistan and Iraq. Vielleicht werdet ihr - wenn ihr den Text gelesen habt lachen, wie ich so einen Fehler übersehen konnte. Allerdings stehe ich sehr auf dem Schlauch und benötige dringend Hilfe.
