Development /Introduction

On the 5th of Feburary 1916 the „cabaret Voltair“ was founded by the artist Hugo Ball in a bar in Switzerland.

This Cabaret was a mixture of artsalon and nightclub, inwhich youngartists and poets showed their works to the public.

They could recite their works or hang their pictures on the wall

from the first evening a lot of artist presented their work, for instance Emmy Hennings, Hans Arp, Tristan Tzara, Marcel Janco.

After a few weeks it became clear that a new school of art was created.

What does Dada mean?

The name or the word “Dada” emerged when Hugo Ball and Richard.H scrolled in a German-french Dictonary . Dada translates into
German as
: Slip me down puckel (rutsch mir den puckel runter)

French as: Wooden horse ( holzpferd)

Romanian as: you are right ( sie haben recht)

It should be a symbol of simplicity and of the new beginning of an art culture.

What does Dadaism include ?

A lot of live performances mainly from Provocation and Illusion

It has worked with all the media around to shock the audience.

Art in the time of World War I

From the beginning of the 20th century, art was the mirror for the crisis in the western culture (Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts spiegelt die Kunst die Krise der westlichen Kulturen.)

Before the first world war started, a lot of art styles had followed one amother.
In ten years it starts by the exprssionism, about the cubeism, the futurism and the abstraction der Satz ist sehr komisch formuliert....

There was a lot of scepsis and rejection about the dadaism.

When World War I ended in 1918, most of the Zürich Dadaists returned to their home countries, and some began Dada activities in other cities.

Development and End of the dadaism

In 1915 Duchamp and Picabia go to America

In 1917 Tzara and Hugo Ball go separate ways.

climax of the American Dadaism in New York: Using the pseudonym Richard Mutt, Duchamp sends a urinal to the Independent society of Artists

1919 was the climax in Zurich, the last major Soiree and the end of the
Dadaism

Tzara follows Duchamp and Picabia to America der Aussagewert dieser Punkte ist gleich 0, da du die meisten der genannten Personen vorher nicht vorgestellt hast

In 1920, the end of Dadaism, the movement splits into two directions.

Schreibe um Himmels Willen nie wieder erst dein Referat auf Deutsch, dadurch begehst du unzählige idiomatische Fehler, weil du englische Sätze mit deutscher Syntax baust...
