FIVE years ago Denise Lewis
finished
(Zeitangabe)
WERE her real aim (denn auch DAMALS waren die Spiele von 2000 ihr Ziel...sind es ja nicht jetzt!)
the medal she has always wanted ODER she had always wanted (Zeitraum wird beschrieben: brauchst n perfect)
Wenn dann wäre es "who had already shown", adverbs of time immer nach dem ersten Hilfsverb.
"who already showed a strong ambition at that pont"
They told her that her daughter HAD a strong.... and they eXPECTED her
became worried
had to travel
