Titel: Re: adjective and adverb
ruri14 hat Folgendes geschrieben:
Meine Frage:
Now, what ist the adverb? Is it "firm" or "wise"?
And what is the adjective? I think it's "man's"
Adjectives are words that describe nouns (or noun phrases), whereas adverbs describe verbs. That means:
"The wise man's hous stood firm"
It's the man, who is wise --> wise is an adjective (otherwise it would have been "wisely".
However it's not the house that is firm, but the house stands firm, or "in a firm way". --> firm is an adverb. (in fact: "firm" is a very peculiar word. It is an adjective as well as an adverb, however, an adverb "firmly" exists as well, which has only a slightly different meaning in my opinion. That might have confused you):
That's the easy way to find out about adverbs and adjectives in a sentence
.
Zitat:
Meine Ideen:
6. rain stopped:
The intense rain stopped directly.
7. dogs barked
The little dogs barked very much.
8. puppy followed
The younger puppy followed me immediatly.
Is that right?
I'd say, yes

Titel: adjective and adverb
Meine Frage:
I've some problems to see if it's an adjective or an adverb.
But most problem is to form sentences with one adjective an one adverb.
Like this:
Form sentences by adding at leas one adjective an one adverb to each of the N-AV (subject - action verb) sentence patterns.
5. house stood
6. rain stopped
7. dogs barked
8. puppy followed.
given example: The wise man's house stood firm.
Now, what ist the adverb? Is it "firm" or "wise"?
And what is the adjective? I think it's "man's"
I have to form sentences with the other 3 pieces of a sentence.
May you help me?
That would be great!
Thank you very much.
Yours ruri
