hi ya.

i didnt want to open a new topic as I knew I had already written something to that.

I just wanted to say that it would be nice to delete some of the spam emails again because they increased again and sometimes I do not know whether its a real topic or just normal spam.

The spam has been increasing rather a lot - though I can usually tell it's really unhelpful if all the "recent topics" are taken up by random people trying to flog us some sort of magic program and/or porn videos.

Unfortunately I do not have a foolproof idea of how to solve this, apart from using text-filters, which are never ideal.

Also, do you think it's possible to implement a feature that shows you the date the "Letzte Themen" were posted respectively.

So much for my 2 cents.

Hi,
I am trying to look up for spam every day and delete those topics.
But if there are still other posts please tell me via PM or ICQ so I will look for it.

The spam problem is discussed by a few mods from the other boards at web-z.net . There we are trying to find a way to solve the problem.

Sorry if we can't do more at time.
If anyone has an idea how we can stop spam feel free to tell us.

Is it still possible to be a guest in the board here and write messages?!
because then its easy to create spam.

Lots of other online communities use the "you have to login system" and so you can at least prevent some of the spam.
And you also have to give an email address when you log in and you have to confirm this email address.

might be a way to solve it.

The obligation to register has already been installed http://www.englischboard.de/topic,1338,-spam-undamp%3B-temp-registrierungspflicht.html and this has concluded in a big decrease of automatically generated spam.
However, the bots seem to have found a system to overcome the barriers. I have already proposed to renew the security measures, but this will probably not solve the problem...

How about a spell-check before posting? Most of them don't cover mix-ups between "their" "there" and "they're" but at least we will know whether there is a simple mistake in our text we could correct...

I guess it'd be hard to implement this into the forum. However it would be quite a good idea for those of the writers, who cannot write blind and are therefore not able to see their mistakes, as we would not have to correct the tiny spelling mistakes all the time...

That's the dirtiest implementation of a spell checker I have ever seen (although I must admit that I haven't seen too many). It doesn't even work properly with my browser.

At least it's simple to implement and works just fine with Firefox (and i think IE6+ has no problems with it either)...

My browser uses the KHTML engine for rendering and the JavaScriptCore engine for the AJAX stuff, both of which implementing the standards extremely well. I don't think my browser's to blame if it doesn't work.

It wouldn't have to be a whole section, would it? Why not start a thread "video recommendations", as long as it's not offending in any way (and sitcoms aren't), it'd be a nice idea.
