The short story "Thank You , M´am" by Langston Hughes is about a boy who trys to steal a purse to get money for some new shoes.
a boy called roger trys to steal a purse . The owner of the purse is a woman called Mrs Luella Bates Washington Jones.
By trying to steal the purse he looses his balance and fells on his back . The woman picks the boy up and held him.
After she talked with him she brings him to her home. There he should wash his face.
After washing his face the woman talks about her past. The woman doesn´t ask him anything about where he lives or anything else.
At the end when they finish eating she gives him ten dollars to buy new shoes and lets him go. The boy saw her never again.
