Ich muss morgen ein referat über CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT halten und muss deshalb auch ein handout machen.

Wenn sich das jemand durchlesen und meine fehler verbessern kann, wäre das echt super gut.

Hilfe

Civil Rights Movement (1955-1968)

Slavery was replaced by Segregation
→ That mean that the black and white people had separate public institutions like buses,
trains, restaurants, hotels, schools and even jails. And blacks did't have the right to vote.

In 1970 more southerns blacks went to the northern states. → attraction: well-paid jobs in factories, escape from the poverty, misery and the discrimination of the segregation.

Brown v. Board of Education, 1954
Parents of black students accused the government because of the segregation in school.

On 17 mai 1954 the Supreme Court decided in the case Brown versus Board of Eductaion of Topeka that segregation in the public school and in other public institutions were unconstitutional.

Civil Rights Act, 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 declared that the blacks have the same rights like the whites even the right to vote.

trischa hat Folgendes geschrieben:
Civil Rights Movement (1955-1968)

Slavery was replaced by Segregation (die Sklaverei wurde doch schon wesentlich eher abgeschafft, das klingt hier so, als sei das erst in den 1950ern geschehen...)
→ That means that black and white people had separate public institutions like buses,
trains, restaurants, hotels, schools and even jails. And blacks did not (keine umgangssprachlichen Abkürzungen in schriftlichen Texten) have the right to vote.

In 1970 more southern blacks went to the northern states. → attraction: well-paid jobs in factories, escape from the poverty, misery and the discrimination of the segregation.

Brown v. Board of Education, 1954 Ich würde das etwas chronologischer aufbauen, du springst ja ständig in der Zeit...
Parents of black students accused the government because of the segregation in school.

On May 17th in 1954 the Supreme Court decided in the case Brown versus Board of Education of Topeka that segregation in public school and in other public institutions were unconstitutional.

Civil Rights Act, 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 declared that the blacks have the same rights like the whites, even the right to vote.

Black power movement

Black Power, 1966
Black Power was a slogan of a wohl besser "the", oder? civil rights movement.
Black Power Organization demanded freedom (mit "for" bedeuten "to demand" "nachfragen" im ökonomischen Sinne) and self determination. The Black Power assumed to be a violent organization.

Malcolm X
He was the leader of NOL (Nation of Islam)
he was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1925
he had a very unhappy childhood
His father was murdered by members of the Ku Klux Klan.
His mother suffered from a nervous breakdown.
Malcolm X was given to a welfare department
He was convicted of burglary and sentenced to 10 years in prison
After his release in 1952, he changed his name to Malcom X (vll solltest du dann auch seinen ursprünglichen Namen nennen...) and became the leader of the NOI.

Nation of Islam (NOI) / Black Muslims

is a religious and political organization, which was founded by Muhammad (welcher Muhammad? Wenn du das so benutzt klingt das nach dem Propheten Mohammed, der wohl kaum gemeint sein kann...) in the USA.
fought for a state, seperate from the white people and for politcal, economic and social success.

Black Panthers

was founded after the murder of Malcom X
were active in the late 1960s into the 1970s
fought for the principles of the ten-Point-programme which they fight for der letzte Relativsatz ist wohl überflüssig: employment, end of the robbery and discrimination , shelter for human beings, justice and freedom.
