Dear ... ... .02.2011

I enjoy my holiday here in London very much. Much ist viel geläufiger. The weather is good and I have seen many sights. Now I want to give you some information about the sights I´ve visited. "information" ist eines der wenigen Wörter, was sowohl im Singular, als auch im Plural gleich ist. "some little" ist dann in diesem Kontext doppelt.

On my first day in London I went to my hotel and unpacked my suitcase. After that I went to the swimming pool of the hotel and enjoyed my first day.

During my second day I went to the Tower of London. They built it in the year 1078, beginning with a signal Tower, the White Tower. At the Tower you can see the beautiful Crown Jewels. I took many photographs of them to show you the crowns, swords and rings. The Ravens which are flying around the Tower of London are not as big as I thought. Did you know that the Tower of London was used as a state prison?

At my third day I went to the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. The Houses were built between 1840 and 1870. Radical Catholics wanted to blow up the Houses of Parliament. Beg Ben is just a bell, not a Tower. The bell weighs 13800kg. Did you know these two facts?

The fourth day was very exciting for me. I have seen Buckingham Palace. It has 775 rooms and was built by Duke of Buckingham in the 18th century. Die Unterschiede zwischen from, of, by scheinen nicht ganz klar. "from" ist häufig räumlich gemeint, "of" z.B. im Sinne von "It's the castle of the queen" (zum Beispiel immer dann, wenn man das Wort als Genitiv schreiben kann!) und "by" meistens nach Verben, die eine Art "Schöpfung" darstellen. "constructed by, build by, written by, painted by", etc. At 11.30 p.m. the Guards change. It is very interesting to see how the Guards move and listen to the music
they play.

The fifth day was a religious day for me. I visited Westminster Abbey. It was built between the 13th and 16th century and is the biggest Anglican church. In Britain it is the most visited church. They have a school too. This school is named Westminster School.

My last sight, which I have seen today is Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column. The Square was designed by John Nash and built between 1758 and 1805. The column on it is just five meters high. Trafalgar Square is a place for many street protests.

Now I am packing my suitcase and I'll go to a good restaurant here in London. I hope you are fine. Please give my regards to father, grandmother and grandfather.

These are the sights which I have seen here in London. Tomorrow I will come back to Germany. I hope this letter could inform you about the most important sights. I hope this letter informed you about..."

I am looking forward to seeing you again.
Den habe ich gestern übersehen. Nach "to look forward to" steht der Gerund.

Best wishes
Dominik
