I am in my final year at the University of Berlin. I am going to work for an Hungarian bank when I will have completed my Degree in Business--> to complete one's degree. The bank employs more than 14,000 staff members in over 80 countries and 140 locations. That is why the company introduced English as its standard language. After having worked as relationship manager for a few years, I would like to work in New York.
I am aware of the fact that, on the one hand, you will have to speak English fluently, and on the other hand, you will need work experience, if you want to work in New York. I think that job experience is merely a matter of time. However, in order to speak English very well you need to work hard and exercise a lot.
The best preparation for my next career step is to take an English language course in order to improve my English.
I would like to apply for a summer English program of the English Language Institute of the Berkeley University of California. This intensive course takes 4 weeks and focuses on all areas of the English language: reading, writing, speaking, listening and grammar. The lessons are in the morning and in the afternoon. The classes end at 16:30 pm. There are several dorms close to the Berkeley Campus for summer students.
Furthermore, many long-term students leave the campus during the summer term break and rent their accommodations.
Expenses you will have to take into account are for instance the Campus Fee, course material and the course fee. Altogether, you should calculate 500 USD per week without living costs and accommodation. One advantage to choose a program at Berkeley is that you are able to spend much time in a foreign country. Everybody speaks English and you have to speak English, too. Furthermore, at Berkeley work very well educated instructors, who can motivate their students and explain the English language very well. In the end, if you pass this course you will have improved your English. Additionally, you will get a certificate from an international known University for your CV. Yet, in contrast to this there are the high fees and the time, which you have to spend on one term.
Summing up, I would prefer this course because I like the state California and the area around San Francisco. And an intensive English course at an international University like Berkeley, can certainly give you an advantage for your own development as well as for your future career.

Hallo,
