| Hier mal eine Beispielübersetzung von mir (aber auch eher aus dem Stegreif): Hello ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Hamburg harbour, where we are going to start our little sightseeing tour dealing with a legendary buccaneer who spread fear and terror across the North Sea and the Baltic Sea at the end of the 13th century. On your left hand side, you can see the 1.50 m tall bronze statue of a man from the Middle Ages. The inscription on the pedestal says: God’s friend and enemy of everyone on earth! It is Claus Störtebeker, whose name is said to derive from downing the content of his tumbler in one. His origin is disputed, however most people believe he came from the area around Verden. It is told that he was involved in lots of fights and drinking binges in Hamburg and ran through all his money until he was expelled from the city. He was a very brave man and later became one of the most famous pirates in North Germany. He raided trading ships from rich cities along the coast and supposedly shared a part of his treasure with the poor, which made him popular especially with ordinary people. Thus, he is sometimes called a Robin Hood of the sea. Various legends developed around his person, for instance he is believed to have donated seven windows to the cathedral in Verden, feeling remorse for his deeds. |

| freue mich für die verbesserung meiner übersetzung ..... von deutsch ins englische............ Text : Hallo meine Damen und herren, willkommen im Hamburger Hafen ,wo wir heute eine kleine rundfahrt beginen wollen , die sich mit einem legendären Freibeuter befasst , der zum Ende des 13.Jahrhunderts Nord - und Ostsee in Angst und Schrecken versetzte. Zu ihrer Linken sehen Sie hier die etwa 1,50m große Bronzestatue eines Mannes aus dem Mittelalter . Die Inschrift auf dem Sockel lautet : Gottes Freund und aller Welt Feind! Es handelt sich um Claus Störtebeker , der seinen Namen daher haben soll , dass er seinen Becher in einem Zug leerte - oder hinunterstürzte . Seine Herkunft ist umstritten , die meisten glauben jedoch , dass er aus der Gegend um Verden stammte.Man sagt , er habe in seiner Jugend in Hamburg ausgiebig gerauft und gezecht und sein ganzes Geld durchgebracht, bis er der Stadt verwiesen wurde.
