Titel: Englisches Referat über "Franz Josef Strauß"
Meine Frage:
Hallo liebe Gemeinschaft,
Herzlichen Dank.
Meine Ideen:
Today I would like to tell you something about the former Bavarian Prime Minister
Franz Josef Strauß and introduce essential dates of his life.
I want to proceed here in chronological order.
He was born as (*the*) son of a butcher.
First, he should complete an apprenticeship as a butcher.
After the second world war Strauß blundered into (* the) American captivity.
But then he decided to go into politics.
From the beginning Strauß was involved in establishing the CSU (Christian Social Union).
He began his political career as District Administrator of Schongau and became deputy chairperson of his party.
Strauß was elected (*to the*) Deputy Chairman
Apart From that he was Federal Minister for Atomic questions and of Defence.
Strauß married his wife Marianne Zwicknagl in 1957. The couple got three children.
One of them is Monica Hohlmeier, who became (*the*) minister of education.
In this picture you can see an originally newspaper clipping.
As Federal Minister of Defence Strauß was caring about the extension of the German Federal Armed Forces.
To explain his role in the ?Spiegel-Affaire? would be to sophisticated.
As Federal Minister of Finance, he works closely with the Federal Minister of Economics.
He died during his term of office: On a hunting trip, he suffers a heart attack.
He funeral procession was the most impressive one after the war.
Some people say that he was the last King of Bavaria.
Zitate (obituaries)
He was a great and honored statesman. (John Paul II.)
Strauß was one of the greatest personality in German post-war history (?)
(Hans-Dietrich Genscher, Federal Ministry of the Interior, CDU)
The performance of Strauß for Bayern (?) can be not highly estimated enough.
(Ernst Albrecht, Prime-Minister, CDU)
His speeches are legendary, they often took several hours, but they were never boring.
Therefore even an airport is named after him.
My great-grandparents received 100 DM to their diamond wedding from Strauß.
Franz Josef Strauß is still known as icon of Bavarian way of life.
His political achievements are unforgettable.
?Unforgettable? is also the titel of a book which I want to hand round.
But it is written in German of course. You can look at it if you want.
