Hi, I bought a book about quaternions. First sentence in the book: "Ever since the Irish mathematician William Rowan Hamilton introduced quaternions in the nineteenth century[...]" How to translate "Ever since"? Okay, since stands for a concrete point in time instead of for which means a time interval. But what means "Ever" in this context and how would I say it in German? "Jemals seit der Irische ..." is not German. Thanks :) All the best
I can't think of a case where it has a different meaning, so I guess it's normally the correct translation of ever since.

Does "ever since" mean "seitdem" in general or only in this case?

You can simply translate "ever since" as "seitdem" in this context.
